Google adds GenAI features to Chrome in latest update

Google Chrome on Tuesday got three new updates including a generative AI feature which will allow users to create their own themes, as well as customise the existing ones.

In a blog, Google said the updated Chrome (M121) will have a feature that will allow users to group their tabs according to their content.

The 'Organize Tab' feature will also allow users to add emojis and names to their tab groupings to easily remember them.

"To use this feature, right-click on a tab and select 'Organize Similar Tabs' or click the drop-down arrow to the left of your tabs. Chrome will even suggest names and emoji for these new groups so you can easily find them again when you need them next," the company blog said.

The other Chrome update is a text-to-image generator, which will allow users to change or customise a theme, even with animation.

The third feature is AI writing. Users can now take help of AI to write text, such a food or restaurant review, with a mere right click on the text box.

"To get started, right-click a text box or field on any site you visit in Chrome and select 'Help me write.' Type in a few words and our AI will kickstart the writing process for you," it said.

The features will become active on Chrome for users in the US in the next few days, and eventually, soon for the rest of the world.

However, the firm said "Because these features are early public experiments, they’ll be disabled for enterprise and educational accounts for now."
