Anthropic launches AI tool for markets analysis

Amazon-backed Anthropic has launched new AI tools designed for financial professionals, bringing its Claude models into investment research, market analysis, and deal-making.

Launched on Tuesday, Claude Financial Analysis Solution is a customised version of Claude for Enterprise, and is powered by Anthropic's newest AI models — Claude Opus 4, Sonnet 4, and Claude Code — and is bolstered with real-time financial data from partners like PitchBook, S&P Global, Snowflake, Box, and Databricks.

"This is a version of Claude built for analysts," said Kate Jensen, Anthropic's head of revenue, at a launch event in New York. "It's made to handle the accuracy, reasoning, and detail this work demands."

The service is available now on AWS Marketplace, with Google Cloud Marketplace access coming soon.

Founded by ex-OpenAI researchers Dario and Daniela Amodei, Anthropic has grown fast since launching Claude in March 2023. Its most recent funding round closed at a USD 61.5 billion valuation. Amazon is one of its biggest backers.

Claude enters a crowded field of AI tools aimed at finance, with such rivals as ChatGPT Enterprise, BloombergGPT, Microsoft Copilot, which is embedded in Excel and Power BI, Databricks Mosaic AI, used for data-heavy finance tasks, and Google Cloud Vertex AI, which has been adopted by major banks.

The new tools could shake up jobs across the financial sector — from equity analysts and wealth managers to investment bankers and hedge fund researchers. 

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently warned that AI's impact on white-collar work is just the beginning.

"In the next few years, AI will start to take over tasks in law, finance, accounting, and even some parts of coding," Amodei said at the Time100 Summit. "Whole categories of desk jobs are in the crosshairs."
