Gemini ropes in Google search to verify AI generated content

Google has introduced a new feature in its Gemini AI which allows users to verify the authenticity of the information generated by AI using Google Search.

When Gemini AI offers a response to a query, the "a double check response" toggle lets users double-check it. The feature is available on both the mobile app and the website of Gemini AI.

"The double-check responses feature helps you assess the credibility of Gemini’s statements using Google Search to find content that’s likely similar or different," Google, according to a report in Indian Express.

For easier understanding, three colors are used to highlight, green shows that Google has found content similar to the AI-generated information and adds a link to it. The orange colour suggests Google did not find relevant content and if the part of the text is colourless then it shows there's not much information on the web similar to the AI-generated content to evaluate it.

The feature aims to help remove the fear that the information produced by a large language model is wrong.

"We want everyone to benefit from what Gemini can do. So, we’ve worked quickly to share these advances with all of you," Google CEO Sunder Pichai said.
