Google has begun rolling out a new AI-powered version of Google Finance in the US this week, transforming the platform into a more interactive and intelligent tool for investors.

The revamped experience, now available at google.com/finance, allows users to ask complex finance-related questions and receive comprehensive, AI-generated answers, the company said in a statement on Friday.

This is a major shift from the previous version, where users had to look up individual stocks or financial metrics manually.

The AI integration means users can now query things like "How does Nvidia's performance compare to other semiconductor stocks this year?" or "What are key drivers behind oil prices in 2025?" and get a synthesised, research-style response — complete with relevant web links, charts, and insights.

Alongside the AI features, Google has introduced advanced charting tools that go beyond basic price graphs. Users can now analyse technical indicators like moving averages, and switch between chart formats such as candlesticks and envelopes — features previously only found in dedicated trading platforms.

The update also includes real-time data on a wider range of assets, including commodities and additional cryptocurrencies, plus a live financial news feed to help users stay updated on market developments.

Users can toggle between the new and classic design during the rollout, which will expand gradually over the coming weeks.

While Google hasn't publicly disclosed how many people use Google Finance today, the platform has long served as a go-to source for basic stock data, particularly among casual investors and those already using Google Search.
