Instagram rival TikTok Notes rolled out

Mini-video app TikTok has initiated the rollout of its new feature, TikTok Notes, to compete against Instagram, to a chosen group of Android and iOS users in Austalia and Canada.

The announcement was made through a post on X, followed by the appearance of TikTok Notes on both the App Store and Google Play listings.

Official images shared reveal unique features, including the ability to write headlines for images above captions, a functionality not currently available on Instagram.

TikTok Notes is an all-new app for sharing photos with text updates.

Earlier this month, TikTok notified users about its new photo-sharing app, TikTok Notes, without offering many specifics beyond its name. Users shared details on X and Reddit.

The notification hinted that TikTok would automatically include users' existing and future public TikTok photo posts, unless they choose otherwise. However, it remains unclear when the app will be introduced in the US and other regions.

According to The Verge, the homepage features two sections: one for posts from followed users and another "For You" page, reminiscent of Pinterest's layout but with a smaller, two-column grid. The highlighted posts likely belong to accounts similar to those followed, based on TikTok's algorithm.

Apart from these minor adjustments, the app closely resembles Instagram.

Instagram owner Meta has historically copied other social media platforms, such as TikTok with Reels and Snapchat with Stories.
