GPU-maker Nvidia is developing a new flagship AI chip for the Chinese market which would be compatible with current US export controls.
Â
In March, Nvidia had unveiled its "Blackwell" series, which is to be mass-produced later in the year.
Â
B200, in the series, is 30 times faster than its predecessor at some tasks like serving up answers from chatbots, according to Reuters.
Â
The chip giant will work with one of the major distributors in China, Inspur, on the launch and distribution of the chip.
Â
Nvidia is yet to make a public announcement.Â
Â
In 2023, Washington tightened its controls on exports of cutting-edge semiconductors to China, seeking to prevent breakthroughs in supercomputing that would aid China's military. Since then, Nvidia has developed three chips for the Chinese market specifically.
